CanNRT Workshop | Championing Change: Pediatric Policy Power-ups with Knowledge Translation

Are you interested in learning about how knowledge translation intersects with policy? 

During this workshop, participants will learn about the conceptual underpinnings of knowledge translation, its processes and application to current policy contexts. They will learn about the use of research evidence to inform policymaking relevant to children with neurodevelopmental conditions. Participants will also learn about knowledge translation products and how to develop them.

Who should attend?  This workshop is open to all registered CanNRT Members.

Why attend?

Participants will:

  • Understand the conceptual underpinnings of knowledge translation. 
  • Understand the relevance of knowledge translation to public policy as it relates to children with disabilities.
  • Understand the use of visuals to inform policy.


About the speaker(s):

Keiko Shikako (@KeikoShikako) is an Associate Professor at McGill University and the Canada Research Chair in Childhood Disability (Participation and Knowledge Translation). Her research focuses on knowledge translation science and the rights of children with disabilities. Her current research includes the Jooay App, a free app that connects children with disabilities and their families to leisure opportunities in their neighborhoods. She also co-leads the CHILD-BRIGHT Network Knowledge Mobilization Program and leads the network Policy Hub.

Alix Zerbo is an Information Officer at the CHILD-BRIGHT Network, where she coordinates the Knowledge Mobilization Program. As part of her work, she produces visual products (e.g., infographics) to support the dissemination of knowledge.
