Application

This privacy policy applies to the personal information that Canadian Neurodevelopmental Research Training (CanNRT) Platform collects about you when you visit CanNRT website (the “Site”).

The Personal Information CanNRT Collects When You Visit the Site

When you visit the Site, CanNRT collects the personal information that you provide to us when using the Site. Examples of this type of information include your contact information (name, email, and organization), as well as information you include in any communication you choose to send us, such as your address and country.

Web servers automatically collect certain information about a visit to a website, including your Internet Protocol (“IP”) address. IP addresses are unique numbers assigned by Internet Service Providers (“ISP”) to all devices used to access the Internet. Web servers automatically log the IP addresses of visitors to their sites. The IP address, on its own, may not identify you, but can do so when combined with other data automatically collected when you request a web page, such as the name of the page you visited and the date and time of your visit.

CanNRT’s Use of Cookies

“Cookies” are an example of “digital markers”:  a small file placed on your computer by a website that you visit. These are stored there so that the web server can remember certain pieces of information about you and make your visit easier so that you do not have to re-enter the same information every time. This information is used by the web server during the same or another visit to the website.

When you visit the Site, CanNRT uses cookies to remember the forms and web pages that you visit. The long-term cookie contains no personal information but can uniquely identify a specific browser on a specific machine that you use when accessing the site. It remains active for two years. The short-term cookie usually expires after 30 minutes, and used to group all the website pages you visit on one occasion. When you check the “Remember Me” box after completing a form on our Site, the registration cookie enables the CanNRT Site to show a prefilled form the next time you use it. The information stored in this cookie is a cryptographic, unique identifier. It does not contain the data you submitted; nor does it provide any means for an external application to uncover the submitted information.

CanNRT uses cookies to collect your personal information from the sites we control. CanNRT does not use cookies to capture any personal information about you when you visit other sites not controlled by CanNRT.

You may adjust your browser settings to reject digital markers, including cookies. Disabling cookies when you visit our website will have no discernible impact on your browsing experience. Please consult your browser’s Help Menu for instructions.

How CanNRT Uses Your Personal Information

CanNRT uses the personal information we collect on our websites for the following purposes:

  • the purposes for which you provided it;

  • to analyze the success, effectiveness, usability, or popularity of the content/service.

CanNRT Third-Party Analytics

CanNRT uses third-party web analytics services, including Fathom, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect data (such as IP addresses) to evaluate use of, and interaction with, our site. These tools collect information sent by your browser or mobile device, including the pages you visit and other information that assists us in improving our websites. We collect and use this analytics information in aggregate form so that it cannot be manipulated to identify any individual user.

External Sites

For the convenience of our visitors, CanNRT also provides links to other external sites that are not under our control (for example, other social media sites). We are not responsible for the content and the privacy practices of sites other than our own. We encourage you to examine each site’s privacy policy and disclaimers, and to make your own decisions regarding the accuracy, reliability and completeness of material and information found there.

How We Safeguard Your Personal Information

CanNRT protects the information we collect on servers in a controlled, secure environment. We maintain safeguards to defend against unauthorized access, use, modification, and disclosure of this data.

However, no data transmission over the Internet or a wireless network can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, there are security and privacy limitations of the Internet that are beyond our control. Information and data may be viewed or tampered with in transit by a third party, despite best efforts.
