Call for Applications | CanNRT–KBHN Trainee Travel Award

The Canadian Neurodevelopmental Research Training Platform (CanNRT), in partnership with Kids Brain Health Network (KBHN), is pleased to launch the CanNRT–KBHN Trainee Travel Award.

This opportunity will support up to 10 trainees across Canada to attend and present their work at the KBH+ Conference 2026 (October 18-21, Calgary).

About the opportunity

The CanNRT–KBHN Trainee Travel Award is designed to support trainees conducting research in neurodevelopment and associated conditions by reducing financial barriers to conference participation.

Award recipients will have the opportunity to:

  • Present their research at a national conference
  • Engage with researchers, clinicians, trainees and partners across sectors
  • Build connections within Canada’s neurodevelopmental research community
 

What the award includes

The award will cover costs associated with attending the KBH+ Conference 2026, including:

  • Conference registration
  • Travel (Round-trip, economy airfare to Calgary from a Canadian city)
  • Accommodation
  • Local transportation
  • Per diem for meals
Details will be confirmed with selected applicants.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a current CanNRT Trainee Member (graduate student, postdoctoral fellow, or clinical trainee)
  • Be conducting research in neurodevelopment and/or associated conditions
  • Be available to attend the KBH+ Conference 2026
  • Submit an abstract to the KBH+ Conference for the poster session by April 30, 2026 (deadline for applicants of this award only) via the KBH+ Conference website 
 

Expectations of awardees

Selected trainees will be expected to:

  • Attend and actively participate in the full conference
  • Present their research (poster presentation)
  • Acknowledge KBHN and CanNRT support in their presentation
  • Contribute to a brief post-conference reflection or knowledge-sharing activity

How to apply

Applicants must submit:

  • A brief statement of interest outlining how attending the conference will support their training and goals (max. 250 words)
  • A curriculum vitae, following the format of the Tri-Council Agencies
  • Confirmation of abstract submission to the KBH+ Conference by the April 30, 2026 deadline
