In an age of digital communication, it’s more important than ever to have an online presence. In this workshop, we’ll discuss how to reach different audiences online, including industry, peers, and journalists. You will learn which professional platforms and tools are available to you as researchers, and the strengths and shortcomings of each. You will also have the opportunity to draft texts that could be suitable for several of these platforms.

Learning objectives

By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Understand the importance of being present online and the kinds of audiences you can reach
  • Be able to articulate the key features and utility of different online platforms and tools such as ORCID, ResearchGate, Google Scholar and LinkedIn
  • Have analyzed examples of writing that may appear on several of these platforms
  • Have drafted texts that could be suitable for several of these platforms
  • Have a dossier of learning materials that will support them in their future use of these platforms.
