“Whose Voice Counts? Inclusive Approaches to Autism Research” explores strategies for conducting research that amplifies the perspectives of autistic individuals, families, and communities. The presentation will cover inclusive and community engaged research methods, ethical considerations when working with underserved groups, and practical approaches to collecting, analyzing, and sharing data in ways that respect and elevate participants’ voices.

Speaker 

Sarah Dababnah, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland Baltimore, with appointments in the School of Social Work and School of Medicine. Her research brings a global perspective to family centered, community based approaches for reducing racial, ethnic, geographic, and socioeconomic disparities in autism and neurodevelopmental disability services. Dababnah is recognized for her expertise in culturally responsive practice and policy and has contributed to national and international initiatives, including work with the World Health Organization in Egypt.
